Continuing to layer tradition and cultural commentary, the titles of the sculptures are drawn from an ancient Korean face-reading practice known as Gwansang, with names assigned by Michelle Im’s mother based on each figure’s expression.
Ha-Eun (欞醑) translates to ‘grace with a humble heart’. Her hand gesture makes her look like she’s pushing away her own ego and approaching life with a humble heart.
