Gyu-Jin (苭 蟼) translates to ‘a star (in the sky) that is in charge of words, to move forward’. One of only two sculptures Michelle Im named instead of her mother, the name Gyu-Jin (苭 蟼) is borrowed from Im’s uncle’s granddaughter, the same uncle who owned the ceramic factory in China. Gyu-Jin (苭 蟼) means ‘to lead the world with her words’. Im chose to use her name because she always tilts her head to the side when she talks.
